Wondering if it was safe yet...some folks on nvnews had problems getting the latest nvidia drivers installed onto 2.6.17 before 2.6.17 was released...

Hmmm..."Linux distributions will detect how many processors, or conceivably processor cores, are running on the system at boot time"

Anyone w/ a single processor system want to be a guinea pig and install 2.6.17-slh64-smp-1? Sounds like there's no need for the -up- uniprocessor version any more, so it'll be less work for slh and kano Smilie

FYI, I'm on 2.6.17-slh64-smp-1 w/ the latest 8762 nVidia drivers w/ no problems.

Well...actually the only problem is ALSA seems stuck at 1.0.11rc4, but I'll create a new post for it...

Zitat:

Well, unfortunately not. The -up kernels are still needed for several hardware combinations - a lot of laptops with buggy Bios among them.
And by the way, the mentioned 2.6.17-slh64-smp-1 is the only and most recent 64bit kernel we offer, needed for Kanotix64 and runs flawlessly on 64bit single core machines. Smilie

I can confirm that the smp 32 bit kernel dies on both my notebooks (all perhaps have buggy bioses?).
Please don't give up support of the up kernels.
