Networking - Lost ath0 after kernel upgrade.

I think I've seen the solution before, but I can't find it now.

I loaded RC4 on my laptop (very nice and all worked, including 802.11g). Then ran h2's script, upgraded to the recommended kernel, rebooted for du, but no ath0 and couldn't connect. There's no ath0 now listed, unless I boot on the old kernel. What's the easiest way to get it back on the new kernel? I think I just need to load the madwifi module, but I'm too thick to remember how.

If you had rerun the script, the connection test would have failed, then a wifi module installer option would have appeared.

You need the madwifi module. There are a few atheros cards not supported under the 2.6.18. reinstall the new kernel.

after ./install-kernel-kanotix
(you might get some errors when installing the same kernel you already have, but ignore the warnings and continue, unless you've gone into modconf and configured drivers manually)

look for madwifi in the kernel directory you unzipped to

type "dpkg - i madwifi-modulesxxx"

Use the tab key to save time. if you type "dpkg -i mad" and hit tab, it will fill in the rest.

Alternatively you could modconf and search for madwifi and enable it in the kernel.

m-a a-i madwifi
