Im looking for a program similar to CDex for Kanotix, I have a lot of old tapes I want to record from my tape player via the "Line IN" on my sound card to convert them into ogg, or MP3 and then burn them to CD, so far I have found one that records but on the WAV format, way too big of a file, with the added hassle of having to convert the file into mp3 and then delete the wav file.

I have about 70 casettes from the 80's with music hard to find this days...he he, any idea or place to go will be greatly appreciated.

Werner.

I'd use Audacity. It's in Debian. Here's a howto even:

Many thanks, I got to play a little on settings with Audacity ( found it on Kanotix) blew me away, Im remastering all my old stuff I thought was destined to the thrift store or the dumpster, some of my tapes were a little fuzzy but got them decent sounding Winken Everyday I get more and more happy with the switch I made a couple of years ago.

Thanks Kano!.

Loco-S,

Another program, ReZound, I used to convert ten audio cassettes into mp3 format, and get them over to CD. Lectures mostly, but, it worked. It is also easy to get through normal Debian repositories Sehr glücklich
