I have Kanotix-Excalibur installed (from IRC link) and lately I've been noticing that my desktop icons keep moving up and down on almost each bootup (but not always). Sometimes I have a space between the first line of icons and the top panel (as there should be) and sometimes there is NO space there and on those times there is a gap (horizontally) between the 4th and 5th line of vertical icons. If I have 6 lines of vertical icons, one row (somtimes the top row, sometimes just the first and last of another) will be displaced to the 2nd vertical row, like:

Notice the displacement order and the gaps? It also changes on these times! (very frustrating!) My ?temporary? solution was to move the icons in the 6th row and leave the 6th row empty (which always leaves a gap above the main panel, sometimes larger when all the icons are shifted up to, and touching, the top panel)
This doesn't change things when I "lock" the icons on the desktop in place. Is this a 'bug' in KDE or Kanotix?
If my textual representation of my desktop icon displacement makes no sense, I will 'capture' and attach the pics of my desktop on each of two different bootups where the icon placement is different and upload them here for everyone to see what I am talking about.
Also, while we are "talking" about panels, is there any way of getting rid of the "File Sessions New", etc. from that top panel ... I never use these but could use the extra space there? (or should I move this to a new topic?)
