Curious. hellfire notes indicate dolphin will mount hd partitions as user, but hard drive is mounted as root (permissions are dwrx------), and cannot access the files.

I can see them via CL , but how can I access HD via dolphin when running Live CD?

Thanks

First of all that is no Hellfire problem, that's just the way Linux permissions work. If you use another filesystem as fat or ntfs you usally store user permissions/owner on it. It does not matter if you mount it as root or user, the permissions are the same. Basically you can use chmod/chown to change those. If you really just want to be root to write on those partitions use: alt+f2, then kdesu dolphin.

HD is ext3 running PCLOS and the individual home folders have their own user permissions, but Dolphin cannot access b/c HD permissions are root. If I change permissions of HD from Live CD is it permanent or just for the session?

Thank you

Permanent of course.

The reason I was confused is because I ran hellfire LiveCD on a Windows computer and HD is accessible by Dolphin.

HD owner is root but permissions are drwxrwxrwx so I can access HD files whereas on the Linux PCLOS, HD is root but permissions are drwx------.

OK, Thank you
