I don't use Quicken (or any other tool like it) but I would be interested to learn what people who do use Quicken think of Home Bank. It's still in Alpha and I did not see any .debs available. Simply unpack the archive and run the executable. It launches fine here. Looks nice too.

interesting, might be worth checking out, I might test the alpha since my current banking habits are becoming fairly disastrous, lol...

I am a heavy Quicken user over many years and have run it via Vmware on my Kanotix desktop for the last year or so. Recently I started trialling KMyMoney with the intention to get away from my last reliance on anything Micro$oft/Windows based. (Also, Quicken/Intuit/Reckon are one of those companies that realise you are locked in to their product and then screw you to death.) I have found that KMyMoney is very good. Deceptively simple, yet it provides all the functionality you need. I am also trialling Gnucash since the new 1.9 version now supports gtk2 and hence now looks very good in Kanotix KDE unlike the previous gtk1 version. Gnucash is more difficult to use and I am not yet sure that it really provides anything more that I need compared to KMyMoney.

I have never seen Home Bank before. The screenshots look good so I guess it is something I should trial as well.

There seem to be some questions about the source code for HomeBrowser since it claims to be GPL. I did find this:

Zitat:
This is simply a binary Preview, after a port/rewrite from my old Amiga to GNU/Linux.
The source code is coming, but I just clean it a little before releasing it ! Don't worry about that Winken

I think it's not too much to be concerned with just yet.
