CUPS is seriously damaging my mental health. Recently I upgraded CUPS and have:
cupsconfig-kanotix 0.5.13
cupsys 1.2.2-1
cupsys-bsd 1.2.2-1
cupsy-client 1.2.2-1
cupsys-common 1.2.2-1
cupsys-driver-gimpprint 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4
cupsys-driver-gutenprint 4.3.99+cvs20060521-4

somewhere during the upgrade my printer stopped working.

Using the localhost:631 interface to administer CUPS I can set the printer up but on trying to print a testpage I get:
Error:
Quota limit reached.

Now, I never set a quota limit. I can find no reference to that specific error message in the CUPS help and the KDE printer set up tool tells me that there is no quota! I am the only user on the box and am the only allowed user of the priinter.

The printer works just fine when run from the Kanotix Easter Bunny CD.

This is nuts.

Any ideas more that welcomed.

This afternoon, I could not print either. I just completed a dist-upgrade using h2's script and now I can print. Candidly, I am not knowledgeable enough to know what occurred to fix the problem, but now it's fixed.

If you want to try it, you can find the script here:
http://techpatterns.com/forums/about736.html

P.S. This is a Linux problem, not a Kanotix problem but Kano and friends have found a solution apparently. Those guys are good.

Many thanks for the link. I've yet to try the script but this posting got the printer going again, albeit slowly:
Zitat:
With cupsys-1.2.1-3 (came in June 21st) I had to edit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and comment the following line:
Code:
# Listen /var/run/cups/cups.sock
to run USB plugged HP Deskjet printers through kprinter.

Thanks. Of course, I didn't do it deliberately. Seems I've some sort of resource useage issue going on here: the page didn't reload and -- at the moment -- I'm having to type this in Gvim and cut and paste it: I simply can't type directly into the web interface.

Will see if a re-boot does the job.
