Hi Folks:
I recently upgraded to a DSL connection, I am able to connect to the internet through the live CD but I am unable to connect to the internet with HD installed Kanotix 2006-rc4. There is the monitor icon on my taskbar which shows the same values fro IP address and Gateway.
IP Address : 192.168.1.254
Gateway:192.168.1.1 same values both with Live CD and HD install of Kanotix. But , connection happens only on Live CD. I have GuardDog firewall on my HDinstall is this becoz of this? How do I fix this problem?
My ISP says that IP Address should be 192.168.1.100
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
GAteway: 192.168.1.1

| Do you mix up DSL with cable modem? For DSL you usually need login data, a cable modem needs only a DHCP request. |

Hi:
I am not confusing Cable Modem for DSL. I have entered the userid password in the DSL Router by accessing the Router config page with http://192.168.1.1, I am only able to access the internet from the Live CD not from the HD Install, All the facts about TCP/IP like Ip address, Subnet mask, Gateway are same for both Live CD and HD Install. I am wondering why it does not work from HD Install. I want it to work from Kanotix on HD. Please help me.

Thanks, I got it working I had to configure the Network Card Configuartion for DHCP broadcast

Hi :
I installed Kanotix-Thorhammer RC6b, everything was working fine, I could access the internet from HD Install, I installed GuardDog, and now I cannot access the net even after removing GuardDog. What is the fix for this?
