I see that Kanotix 2011-05 was released. I'm sorry, but what is the point of releasing a distro with such an outdated version of KDE? Kde is at 4.6.3 now and has so many speed improvements and bug fixes it's not even worth loading kde 4.4.5 on any of my pc's.

Because it is Debian Stable. A lot of people say that they had no good expericence with brand new KDE versions from the major KDE distris. They reported that it works better on Kanotix, so maybe give it a try Winken

Btw. I would love to see KDE 4.5 or 4.6 as a Debian Backport, the Debian KDE guys are working on it already. If there are backports available we will use that for Kanotix as well.

Cheers TheOne

The "Squeeze"-Release cycle is just new.
I think there is a lot of time to find a source for stable KDE 4.6.x backports to create a optional Kanotix-Version.

Hello all, it has been a long time since I used Kanotix (6 years?) I just saw that a new version was finally out and wanted to try it out but will probably wait for KDE 4.6.x to arrive here.

It is extremely stable and fast on my Kubuntu 11.04 install.

Looking forward to doing Kanotix again Smilie

And I've been stuck with the same version of Kanotix for just about the same amount of time, and when my HD packed it in 3 yrs ago & Win Me u/s, K became my sole o/s. Traurig

Kubuntu sounds good but Kanotix is very fast and ultrastable.
Boots faster than the latest Mepis f.ex.
One reason I dont use (k)ubuntu is the constant upgrades, a PITA
when you dont have fast/unlimited broadband. Then its good to have a distro that keeps to stable.
