Kapierst dus heute noch? Es bringt gar nix, wenn du ein modul lädst wo nicht benützt wird. In der /etc/modules schreibt man ausschliesslich (!) module rein, die keine ids haben, z.b. wennst die mit Hilfe von sensors-detect gefunden hast. Ansonsten machst nur das debugging umständlicher, weil laden lässt sich so gut wie jedes modul, nur obs das richtige ist merkts auch erst wenn die Hardware da ist. Es ist zwar im Speicher tut aber nix. Das könntest sogar du checken, lsmod|grep name, aber es führt zu gar nix! Beispiel:

Dieses modul NICHT reinschreiben:

/sbin/modinfo -F alias rt2870sta

Das hingegen kann rein:

/sbin/modinfo -F alias coretemp

Gut, aber ich hatte es ihm ja nur für den - unwahrscheinlichen - Fall geraten reinzuschreiben, falls das Modul nach Reboot nicht geladen sein sollte. Unterm Motto "nix ist unmöglich". Winken
Aber warum wird sein Stick nicht erkannt?

Auch wenn ich dir vermutlich nicht weiterhelfen kann, interessieren tät mich schon was dmesg auswirft, wenn du den Stick mal abziehst und wieder ansteckst. Danach diie letzten - neuen - Zeilen von dmesg posten.

Also auf lsmod | grep rt3572 gibts keine Meldung.

Ich hab's übersehen! Man muss noch die Firmware für den Stick installieren.
Letztes Paket unten auf der Ralinkseite runterladen.

unzip RT2870_Firmware_V22.zip
cd RT2870_Firmware_V22
su
cp rt2870.bin /lib/firmware

reboot.

Hallo Felis, beim letzen Kommando cp rt2870.bin /lib/firmware, kommt die Frage ob die Datei überschrieben werden soll. Lass ich das Leerzeichen
nach bin weg, heißt es fehlender Zieldatei Operand hinter rt2870.bin /lib/firmware.

Was mach ich falsch bzw. was bedeutet daß?

nachdem du den treiber neu entpackt hast und ins verzeichnis gewechselt bist machst mal:

sed -i '/0x0930,0x0A07/a\\t{USB_DEVICE(0x050D,0x935A)},' common/rtusb_dev_id.c

und installierst ne neu, dann den usb stick anstecken, stell sicher, dass du den modulnamen vorher scho aus der /etc/modules entfernt hast. das modul sollte vorher möglichst nicht geladen sein.

In Kanotix ist das Paket linux-firmware und linux-firmware-nonfree enthalten. Offensichtlich ist da diese Firmware schon dabei. Da ich annehme, dass Kano immer die aktuellste Firmware zur Verfügung stellt, ist das drüberkopieren wohl unnötig. Wird wohl identisch sein. In diesem Fall müsstest du die Frage verneinen, und der Vorgang wird abgebrochen.
