Titel: problems with Java after last upgrade
G'day
After my last apt-get upgrade, my Azureus just dissapeared. It seems, there are now some unmet dependencies and I tried re installing azureus, then I get:

> apt-get install azureus
>
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
...
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
azureus: Depends: libswt-gtk-3.2-java but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then tried

> apt-get install libswt-gtk-3.2-java
...
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libswt-gtk-3.2-java: Depends: libswt-gtk-3.2-jni (= 3.2-1) but 3.2-1+b1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the file libswt-gtk-3.2-jni is already the newest and there is no libswt-gtk-3.2-jni +b1?

has there been any similar problems with latest upgrades?
what is the best way to solve this dependency problem?

cheers

Thanks for the heads-up. Was about to dist-upgrade and found similarly that azureus was to be removed. Will wait for a solution.

In the very special case of Azureus (and only in this case!) it is better to use the standalone version.
Download it from http://www.getazureus.com/alldownloads.php?ver=2.5.0.0&os=linux, unpack it, and run it from inside the azureus folder. Azureus is told to run better that way.
Greetings,
Chris

Thanks slam. Dist-upgraded, got the standalone version and everything is chugging along fine. Smilie

Please let me add:
Although Azureus is a very popular Open Source project running on several different operating systems, it seems to have it's problems, too. It might be doing a great job on low level Internet connections, but definitely eats up all processor power and memory on faster/bigger bandwidth connections.
I de-installed it yesterday, and instead picked the newest version of Ktorrent.
It looks and works very similar, is perfectly integrated into KDE, and does a fine job with my torrents now. So, this is definitely a recommendation.
Greetings,
Chris

I have two second Slam on this. Ktorrent gets better and better. It is my only torrent app.

if you want to stick to the debian-repos I just wanted to mention that the azureus from testing (2.4.0-2) is still installable.
Code:
apt-get install azureus/testing

I've had the same Problem and decided to switch to Ktorrent. Works very well, so i think i won't miss Azureus.

For me Azureus gives more speed then KTorrent. I am not sure if this is a setting problem but most I got out of KTorrent is about 12kb/s using the same forwarded ports. With Azureus it goes up to 180+kb/s

The latest d-u did not remove azureus for me, so that is a good thing.
