General Support - how to reinstall these packages [installation manicaca] net_hw - 22.07.2010, 23:19 Uhr Titel: how to reinstall these packages [installation manicaca]
I thought I'd never need to use modems in my life
but I had a problem with my wifi provider
and it was I installed the modem in PCI ahhhhggggg!!!!;-P
long ago I uninstalled of my KANOTIX 2007 Thorhammer RC7 sl-modem, ppp, kppp and I think that I had a shot in the foot because now I had no internet
I could not apt-get find packages from the CDROM
and I think do not find it because it's all squashed
finding no other way I boot the CD and copied the files to the folders on the partition
I could run the sl-modem compiled the driver for my modem a motorola
pppd and kppp also worked but it only works with sudo terminal, strangely if I root# does not work I have to be eumesmo~$ and use sudo
in terminal I start the sl-modem-daemon and then kppp can navigate
now that the I have net precariously, I like to do an update in the packages:
sl-modem-daemon and ppp kkkp for everything to return to normal
but apt-get does not find these packages should I do
thanks from now
hw

Hi net_hw,
update your package list via
Code:
apt-get update
After that start downloading every package you need via
Code:
apt-get -d install PACKAGENAME
If you need a special version of a package you can write the version number right after the package name, see for syntax details
Code:
man apt-get
I would suggest, that you download every package you need via this method, delete your custom copies of kppp... and than make a clean install of the downloaded packages via
Code:
apt-get install PACKAGENAME
