Post subject: Mistake on du-fixes-h2 script for non English locales  PostPosted: Aug 25, 2006 - 07:22 PM

If you are a non english speaker and ran the script in the last 18 hours or so, you probably got a failed connection message.

That was a mistake in the script, sorry about that.

You will need to download the latest version of the script, which I think has that issue resolved. The normal script updater will not work if you got this connection failed error, you'll have to run this:

wget -NqO /usr/local/bin/du-fixes-h2.sh http://techpatterns.com/du-fixes

chmod +x /usr/local/bin/du-fixes-h2.sh

to fix that.

Please let me know if any of you have this problem again with the fixed script, sorry about that.

The script also now has an option -u which will allow you to force it to download without being in init 3, although you must be root to run it of course.

that's: du-fixes-h2.sh -u

This option is only available on the latest version, 3.5.15 or greater.

Again, sorry about that, I was testing for something in english, and forgot all about the rest of the world...

Should be no further errors, it was only for about a 15 hour period that this would have affected users. The network connection detection no longer relies on those faulty methods.

I had one error, h2. I was trying to select the older 64-bit kernel (2.6.16?) and it failed to install. When I examined the unzipped package, I found it had a DEB labeled i386, and the installer was looking for amd64. Might want to look at that package or perhaps remove it from the list.

You're right, sorry about that, the 2.6.16.20-slh64-smp-1 is fine though, I'll remove that other one. Thanks for catching that one, not sure how that happened.
