Hi,
I am fairly new to kanotix , but I was wondering if someone could tell me how to install the fglrx driver for my graphics card. It`s the mobility x700.
I use kanotix 2005-4, fresh installed from the live-cd.
On ubuntu i could use the installer from ati, but that ruined my installation.
So i started over again.
Anybody??

Why didn't you install the 2006-RC2? If you want to stay with 2005-4 ( which is quite old, you maybe undergo problems due to old packages ), you first have to download the new install-fglrx-debian.sh skript from http://www.kanotix.com/files .
Strg+Alt+F1
log in as root
go to the directory where you saved the installskript and run it..
everything should be done by the script.
You may try the new RC. If you don't have problems with the live cd, install this version as it is more up-to-date.

Well, i read that there were some problems with it RC--> release candidate??,
so i thought the 2005 version would be easier?!
Now i am downloading the new version and i'll try it out

Just give the release candidate a try, you'd have more probs with 2005-04 ( dist-upgrade can be quite complicated, as many important things have changed since then; without d-u, you would not be able to install some new programs ).
If the RC is running well, install it and then install the ATI driver by Strg+Alt+F2, log in as root, do update-scripts-kanotix.sh and then just install-fglrx-debian.sh |
