          | I did have an older version of the freecom USB DVB-T card working under linux, but I had to buy another USB card.
however the new card seems to need a different firmware because the new card does not work.

 performing an lsusb shows :-

Bus 001 Device 012: ID 14aa:0225 AVerMedia (again) or C&E

but i did read that the issue could be to do with a wrongly detected cold state.

according to ubuntu forums there is a usb-ids.h listing of all usb devices in cold state and there was a line to change for this card.
editing this file (usb-ids.h) then correctly detecs the cold state of the card and then send the same firmware (for old and new Freecom USB DVB-T cards) and it then works

 My question is :-

this file does not exist in kanotix so how does kanotix know what firmware to send to what USB device ?

 thanks in advance.
