I was using Kanotix-2005-4 on this hardware (P4 with Hyperthreading) and booting the system was quite fast. Lase week after install of Kanotix-2006-RC4 (no change in hardware profile), the boot process is slow. Could there be something obvious? I do not want to go back to Kanotix-2005-4..

What was the boot pausing at? Usually its dhclient configuring your network device, it'll try for ~30 seconds then give up if it can't connect to a network.

The box has a static IP. There are two visible pauses:

1. before the grub menu
2. after the display of two penguins
