Hi,
I'm proposing to assemble the following system:
Gigabyte 945P-DS3 Intel motherboard
Intel 6300 core 2 duo processor
Single stick of Crucial memory 1gb
Western Digital 160gb Sata HDD
PCI-e graphics card (to be determined)
Viewsonic 19 inch LCD display
Kanotix will be the only operating system on the machine and I'd appreciate your comments on the suitability of the components. I know nothing about compiling things by the way.

| Best use only SATA components, maybe a P965 system. For reuse of old IDE hardware P945 seems to be the better choice, just fewer (4) instead of 6 sata ports. I mean dvd+rw as SATA too. New boards use external ide controllers which are not fully supported - at least not currently, will change later. |
