Post subject: Can I dist-upgrade form Thorhammer RC5 to RC6?

Greetings. I guess my subject says it all. I am running Thorhammer RC5. Can I apt-get dist-upgrade to RC6?

| Well RC5 had some small problems that could be only fixed by a complete new install, but when you update the kernel you can dist-upgrade and the system should still run. Without kernel update you would need to put hal on hold. |

download kernel from http://kanotix.com/files/kernel/
unpack the tar file
go into the kernel package folder
run install script (as root)
./install.sh
after the kernel is installed and reboot !
you have to run nvidia or fglrx script again (watch the notes in the script)
RC5 (not 5A-5D) had 2 outdated kanotix sources, comment them out if you didn't yet, you only need the "kanotix/files/thorhammer"-repo.
then dist-upgrade

Just to let everyone know that, after following the suggestions given here the kernel update and dist-upgrade from Thorhammer RC5 to RC6 is running very smoothly on my Dell Dimension P111, 866 mhz, 320mb ram, ATI card machine.
I will keep everyone updated. So far, internet, music programs all work fine.
