          | Kanotix was the first Linux I ever successfully installed, back in 2003. Now, eight years later, I can't do it. I tried to install Kanotix twice. The first time I couldn't mount the /home partition properly, and the second time I was so frustrated that I wiped out about a half a terabyte of data. (I know that's on me. I wasn't supposed to stop the install like that. )
Really, the old installer, or any other installer that I've ever seen, is better than that. I didn't need to change any partitions, I just needed to mount /home. I didn't see any way of doing that, so after trying to fix the mistake in the first install by reediting /etc/fstab, and starting a new user account that seemed to lack permissions to do anything, i started over, and got involved in repartitioning in a desperate attempt to set new mount points. It was a mess, from beginning to end.

 Is there another installer maybe?

          | Well, I believe that i figured it out, but i still think that the Acritox installer is an unholy mess. But all things considered, I still love Kanotix! |

          | You can update the installer before install, there are lots of fixes in it. Follow !installer in the irc. |
