On-call rota

The on-call rotation runs one week in six, handover on Friday at 16:00. The outgoing engineer hands over the depot key, the open tickets and anything already dispatched but not yet closed.

Escalate to the depot manager, not to head office, when a customer site is unreachable for more than two hours.

Site access

Every depot has a key safe with the fallback key inside it. The safe code is rotated each quarter and the current code is kept in the depot logbook.

DepotAccess hoursFallback key location
Berlin-Ost06:00-20:00Key safe, left of the roller door

Spare parts

Consumables are restocked on the first Monday of each month. Anything that leaves the depot must be logged against the job number before the engineer drives away.

The M8 hex bolt is the most commonly needed fastener and the easiest to run out of. Torque it to 24 Nm.

Torque wrench calibration is due every 12 months. The calibration certificate is kept with the depot logbook.

Customer handover

Leave the site with the work order printed, the old part retained for the customer, and the meter reading recorded. The customer signs on paper; the copy goes into the depot mailbox on the same day.

Do not promise a follow-up visit date. Book the next visit before leaving the site, or the job is closed and needs re-raising.

Safety

Safety boots are required on every site visit. Spare laces live in the van, not in the depot.

Report every near-miss the same day, however minor. A near-miss report that turns out to be nothing is still a good outcome.
