This article was tested succesfully with the following Kanotix versions:

  • Kanotix Dragonfire
  • Kanotix Spitfire
  • Kanotix Steelfire
  • Kanotix Silverfire
  • Kanotix Speedfire

If you boot the Kanotix-Iso it will start in UEFI or Legacy mode.

1. Legacy Boot

Grub-Iso-Boot-Legacy

If you see this grub-screen (with Memtest) the iso is booted in Legacy mode.
After install you have to start the install also in Legacy mode !

2. UEFI Boot

Grub-Iso-Boot-UEFI

If you see this grub-screen (with EFI Shell) the iso is booted in UEFI mode.
After install you have to start the install also in UEFI mode !

3. Install with UEFI

Before you start, you must create for Uefi Bios an GPT Partition Table if not already installed!
You have to mount a FAT32 partition on /boot/efi
100-512 mb recommended

So create a FAT32 partition and mount during installation:
(this is only an example, Partition is only 20 gb)
